Says More

Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season (speaking of Moses)
– Hebrews 11:25

That you have to
Get down to
Near birthday suit
Before I like you
Says more about me
Than it does about you

That I will listen to
All the stories you
Rumour and spew
With no substance or ground in view
That I readily take a double scoop
Says more about me
Than it does about you

That I will
Try to make you fill
The void that is still
God-shaped despite my refusal
And you’re promoted to an idol
Instead of Him to fulfil
And you turn out ungrateful
Overbearing and hate-filled
And as the bottom half of the hourglass is filled
Over me you manipulate your way and will
Says more about me
Than it does about you

That I blame
And bring to shame
And through mud drag your name
Thereafter incinerate it in flame
“Just telling the truth” is my claim
And I say it with a smile too
Says more about me
Than it does about you

I do not say
Those who go astray
Should be permitted to get away
With their deplorable games
Of abuse, manipulate, and nudity
But what does it say
Of me
When I choose to take
Pleasure in their ways?

” And just as they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them over to a depraved mind, to do what should not be done.

They are filled with every kind of unrighteousness, wickedness, covetousness, malice.

‎They are rife with envy, murder, strife, deceit, hostility.

They are gossips, slanderers, haters of God, insolent, arrogant, boastful, contrivers of all sorts of evil, disobedient to parents,
senseless, covenant-breakers, heartless, ruthless.

Although they fully know God’s righteous decree that those who practice such things deserve to die, they not only do them but also take pleasure in those who practice them.

My own choice says more about me than it does about you.
